Christy at officeChristy Gunther has been a professional counselor since 1981 and in private practice since 1987.  She received her M.A. in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of South Florida in 1980.  She holds licensure in the state of North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC 732) and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS 75).  She is also a National Certified Counselor (NCC 35007).

Ms. Gunther has a general practice in which she offers individual and couple counseling.  She works primarily with adults and has a special interest in depression and bereavement.  She also started a pet loss support group in 1994 as a community service, which she facilitated for 24 years.  Her approach is client-centered and she utilizes a number of different therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral, Gestalt, Rogerian, and Reality Therapy, according to what is most effective with each individual client.  She also provides alcohol/drug assessments for the court.
